On the evening of June 4, 2025, the Saint Agatha School community gathered for a truly memorable and moving celebration as we honored our Grade 8 students during the Graduation Mass and Ceremony. This milestone event marked the conclusion of our students’ time at Saint Agatha and the beginning of an exciting new chapter in their educational journeys.
Held at 6:00 p.m. in Saint Agatha Church, the evening began with a beautiful celebration of the Eucharist, led by Rev. William Palardy, Pastor, and concelebrated by Rev. Jiwon Yoon, Rev. William Murphy, and Deacon Dan Sullivan. The Mass was not only reverent and prayerful but also uplifting and filled with heartfelt meaning.
One of the highlights of the evening was an inspiring homily delivered by Rev. William Palardy, who shared the story of St. Philip Neri, known for his joyful and unconventional ways of connecting with others. Father Palardy told how St. Philip once attended important events with half his beard shaved, gave incorrect walking directions to his disciples, and read from a book of jokes. These humorous and humble acts were meant to break down barriers and remind others of the importance of presence and humility.
Father Palardy reflected on how St. Philip used joy to evangelize and share the Gospel, even in the face of adversity. The stories serve as a powerful example for our graduates as they prepare to go out into the world with courage, compassion, and faith.
Following the Mass, the graduation ceremony commenced. Led by Principal Mr. Gregg Chambers and Assistant Principal Mrs. Barbara Smith, the event included the presentation of diplomas and the formal introduction of the Class of 2025.
A special part of the evening was the presentation of scholarships, with overviews read by 8th Grade Teacher Ms. Maeve McDonald, who spoke eloquently about the meaning and legacy behind each award. This year’s scholarships included:
Michael J. Costello Family Scholarship
Lt. Charles E. Gratch Memorial Scholarship
Sister Mary Theresa Norton Scholarship
Jacqueline Nazzaro-Wuestefeld Scholarship
The Brophy Family Scholarship
These honors recognize students for academic excellence, leadership, service, and character, and stand as lasting tributes to the individuals and families they are named for.
Adding a special touch to the evening was the participation of an alumni chorus, led by Mrs. Kathy Fitzpatrick and accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Julie Fay, whose voices echoed the love and connection that extend well beyond graduation. Their presence reminded us that Saint Agatha School is not just a place of learning but a lifelong community.
As the ceremony closed, the graduates left the altar with joyful hearts and hopeful spirits. They now step forward into high school and beyond, guided by the values of faith, humility, and joy that they have carried throughout their time at Saint Agatha.
Congratulations to the Class of 2025! We are so proud of all you have accomplished, and we look forward to seeing how you will continue to light the world with your gifts.
